What Is A Check Valve?

Check Valve, also known as a return valve, check valve, bottom valve or check valve, is a valve that only allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow in one direction. A check valve is a double-port valve, meaning that there are two openings in its body, one for fluid entry and the other for fluid exit.

According to the structure of the check valve, it can be divided into several types, such as lifting check valve, swing check valve and butterfly check valve. According to the different connection forms, check valves can be divided into several forms such as threaded connection, flange connection, welding and sandwich connection.

In a ship's piping system, check valves are usually installed on the outlet line of the pump to prevent the backflow of the medium. When the pump stops working, the check valve automatically closes to prevent the medium from flowing back into the pump, thereby protecting the pump and the entire piping system from damage. It provides important guarantee for the safe and stable operation of the shipbuilding industry.
